do dogs go to heaven?

i used to think people were really dumb for freaking out over a passed away pet, until i got a phone call today.

it was my parents telling me that one of our dogs B.J. (Billie Joe) was going to be put down that day. immediately, without my realizing it, tears were falling down my face and onto my lunch sitting in front of me. i was heartbroken that i would never see one of our dogs, that we've had for 13+ years, again. another thing that broke my heart just as much was the thought that B.J.'s sister, Runt, wouldn't understand what happened.

when i got home i went out to the side yard where Runt was laying. she got up and, ignoring me, went to the screen door and just stared into the garage waiting for her sister to appear.
